1. Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of WildJournal (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. The service

WildJournal is a platform for discovering, planning and journaling UK outdoor adventures — including a location directory, route and trip planning, a travel diary, and optional AI-assisted place suggestions. Core features are free to use. Some pages may include affiliate links (for example, to campsite booking partners); we may earn a commission if you book through these, at no extra cost to you.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login details secure. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know straight away if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights
• Submit location information that encourages trespass, or that misrepresents access rights, private land as public, or unsafe activity as safe
• Use the Service to harass, impersonate, or collect information about other users
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorised access to the Service
• Use the AI suggestion feature to generate or publish misleading location information

We may remove content or restrict accounts that breach these terms, at our discretion (see "Moderation, suspension & termination" below).

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the trips, diary entries, photos, reviews and location submissions you create ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content, you grant WildJournal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the Service — for example, showing your location submission in the public directory, or your shared trip to people you send a link to.

You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the necessary rights to share it (including any photos you upload). You can edit or delete Your Content at any time, and we will remove it from public view accordingly, subject to reasonable technical delay and any copies kept for backup or legal purposes.

6. Location, route & safety information

WildJournal aggregates information from our team, our community, and third-party data sources (such as Ordnance Survey, tide data providers and user submissions). We try to keep this accurate, but outdoor conditions, access rights, opening times, facilities and regulations change — sometimes quickly and without notice.

Location details, routes, distances, difficulty ratings, tide times, "go/no-go" style status indicators and similar information are provided for general guidance only. They are not a substitute for your own judgement, up-to-date official sources, local signage, weather forecasts, or — where relevant — the rules of the Civil Aviation Authority (for drone flights), the relevant access code (e.g. the Countryside Code or the Scottish Outdoor Access Code), and any landowner permissions. You're responsible for assessing the risks of any activity and for complying with the law, including trespass, wild camping and drone-flying rules in the area you visit.

7. AI-generated suggestions

The AI "suggest a place" feature uses third-party AI models to propose locations based on your search. Suggestions are checked against mapping data where possible, but they may still be inaccurate, outdated, or describe a place that doesn't allow public access. Treat AI suggestions as a starting point for your own research, not as verified fact.

8. Affiliate links & third-party services

WildJournal links to third-party websites and services — for example, campsite booking partners, mapping providers and embedded video. We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or practices of third-party sites, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

9. Intellectual property

The WildJournal name, logo, design and underlying software are owned by WildJournal or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Other than Your Content, nothing in these terms grants you any rights to our trademarks, branding or code.

10. Moderation, suspension & termination

We may review, edit, or remove user-submitted content (including locations, reviews and diary entries) that we believe breaches these terms or is otherwise inappropriate. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, misuse the Service, or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to protect WildJournal or other users. You can stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time.

11. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information (including location, route, weather, tide or AI-generated content) is accurate, complete or up to date.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WildJournal won't be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your reliance on information found on the Service, or from activities undertaken outdoors. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know — for example, via a notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.
