Hike Moderate Dogs on lead

Tinto (northern approach)

South Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire

Tinto is an isolated, conical hill offering exceptional panoramic views across South Lanarkshire. This northern approach provides a clear, steady route to the 711-metre summit, starting from a small car park near the Tinto Hill Tearoom. The path initially climbs the northern flank of Totherin Hill, passing a cairn before reaching a path junction with Maurice's Cleuch valley below. The final ascent leads to a summit marked by a large cairn and trig column. On clear days, the view stretches from the Lake District and Northern Ireland to the Arrochar Alps and Cairngorms. Hang gliders and paragliders often share the summit, adding to the dramatic landscape.
