Glamaig (Sgurr Mhairi & An Coileach)

Highland, Inverness-shire

Glamaig is a distinctive hill in the Red Cuillin range on the Isle of Skye, featuring two summits: Sgurr Mhairi (775m) and An Coileach (673m). The route begins by parking near the A87 and following a fence line uphill, avoiding the steep northern scree slopes. The walk climbs to An Coileach first, then continues along the ridge to Sgurr Mhairi, marked by an OS trig point. From the summit, hikers are rewarded with a panoramic view including Sgurr nan Gillean, the Black Cuillin, Outer Isles, Ben Nevis, and the Isle of Raasay. The descent follows fence posts down to Bealach na Sgairde, crossing rough terrain and passing electricity poles before returning to the starting point.
