Blabheinn via south ridge
Highland, Highland
Blabheinn is a dramatic Munro on the Isle of Skye, offering an exhilarating ridge walk with stunning views across the Cuillin landscape. Starting from a small layby on the Elgol road, the route follows a moorland track crossing several burns, with Slat Bheinn prominent to the right. The path leads towards Am Mam col, where views of the Black Cuillin open up dramatically. The route turns north near Camasunary Bay, with a path leading to the start of the south ridge ascent. The ridge climb involves some light scrambling, with rocky outcrops that can be navigated around or tackled directly. As height is gained, the terrain becomes progressively rockier. The southern summit features a large cairn, with an optional challenging 15-metre scramble to the higher northern summit. This section requires scrambling experience and a good head for heights. Scramblers with the right skills can enjoy a rewarding route to the 929m peak, with breathtaking views across Skye's rugged terrain.
