Ben Vrackie & Meall an Daimh from Pitlochry
Perth and Kinross, Perth and Kinross
This challenging hillwalking route starts from Moulin on the outskirts of Pitlochry, climbing to the summit of Ben Vrackie (841m) before continuing to the lesser-known peak of Meall an Daimh. The walk begins through pleasant woodland beside the Moulin Burn, quickly transitioning to open heather moorland. The ascent of Ben Vrackie involves a steady climb with increasingly steep sections, rewarded by extensive views across Rannoch Moor and the Glencoe area from the summit, which features an OS trig column and topograph. After leaving Ben Vrackie, the route descends north-west over pathless ground to the broad ridge leading to Meall an Daimh. The return journey follows the Bealach Path, crossing moorland and woodland back to the starting point. Walkers should be properly equipped and prepared for changing mountain conditions.
